House of Savoy Kingdom of Italy Bullion Insignia Patch on Black Felt

Description

I am not sure of the exact application of this patch, but I believe it is likely from the WW1 period or earlier.  It is bullion on
black felt with a cross shield beneath a crown, surrounded by some type of laurel.
It would only be speculation on the application of this but the shield is shaped more like the Arms of Savoy than the Kingdom
of Italy, which leads me to believe this is related more to the original House than to the Kingdom.
